Hetzer frontview, Saukopf gun mantle hard edges were painted to blend with body camouflage, barrel painted black to disguise its length. After Normandy campaign, SS-Frundsburg participated in various other battles including repelling British Paratroopers at Arnhem in Sept 1944, defense of Aachen Nov 1944, German offensive into Hagenauerwald near Strasbourg, and finally sent to northeastern Germany for its final battles against Soviet forces in Pomerania (at Stettin, Stargard, Furstenwalde) before its surrender in Schonau May 1945. Note, Aachen located in western Germany was the former imperial capitol of Charlemagne (Charles the Great or in German Karl der Grosse), who founded the Frankish Kingdom in which modern French are descendents from. Interesting that the founder of French civilization is actually buried in Germany. French by ethnicity are Germanic (related to Germans, Scandinavians, British Anglo-Saxon), but were heavily influenced by Roman culture hence adopted its language in-masse. Inset : Modern WW2 re-enactors with operational Hetzer and German infantry in standard field-green uniforms. These Hetzers are usually converted from postwar Swiss G-13 tank destroyers since they are very close approximates. This methodology also used on postwar Czech OT-810 armor personnel carriers, converting them back to German SdKfz 251 schutzenpanzerwagen. Czechs called their OT-810 vehicles "Hitler's Revenge" (since the SdKfz 251 was only viable APC design immediately after WW2).
